BASKETBALL Victoria and its Technical Officials Commission would like to commend all the Victorian Referees for recently high-calibre appointments.
It has been a bumper month for our referees across state and national appointments, officiating the Australian Junior Championships, Country Basketball League’s Championship matches as well as the U16/18 Division 1&2 Country Championships.
Our Victorian referees excelled at the Australian Junior Championships, taking medal match appointments through the Under-20 and Ivor Burge tournaments held from 13-17 February at the Australian Institute of Sport in in Canberra.
Following their success in officiating in last year’s Australian Under-18 Junior Championships, Jordan Royal, Shannon Jennings, Stefanie Deutscher and Ken Spratt were the Victorians selected to referee the U20 Australian Junior Championships.
Royal and Jennings were both appointed for the Women’s Gold Medal Match, with Deutscher to officiate the Bronze Medal Match. Fellow Victorians Adam Sheehy, Mitchell Bond and Nick Foord were selected to referee the Ivor Burge Matches, with Sheehy officiating the gold medal match and Bond with the bronze. Being selected as an Australian Junior Championship referee is an immense achievement and for our referees who have completed their time at the Australian Junior Championships, we congratulate them on their time as national championship referees.
